# Our story

I was a software engineer before I was an advisor. I built this because I needed it. Here is how it went, in plain words. When you are done, try it for yourself.

## From code to clients
I started writing code when I was 13. I became an experienced software engineer. Later I became a financial advisor and started my own firm. So I saw the problems from the inside. And I had the skills to fix them.

## Why I switched
People often say that career switchers could not make it in their old field. That is not my story. I did not switch because I could not make it. I worked for bosses who did not care about me. I worked on a product that placed high-interest loans with professionals who did not understand the rates. I got fed up with the company, and with the industry too. As I got older, I saw the writing on the wall. So I moved to a career I already cared about. It respects age and wisdom. It puts me face to face with people. Now I help hard-working people directly, instead of sitting behind the scenes taking advantage of them.

## I was not sure I was doing it right
When I started out, I had impostor syndrome. I was never sure I was doing things the right way. So I checked and checked again. Every task took a long time.

## My tools did not agree
I used one system for this and another for that. All day I went from one to the next. They did not stay up to date with each other. A fact I fixed in one place was still wrong in the next. That was a real pain.

## I ran the firm and the compliance too
I ran the business. I was also its chief compliance officer. That is a lot for one person. I was always worried about what data was where. When an audit came, I had to pull it all together. That took time away from my clients.

## I wanted to do right by my clients
Most of all, I was not sure I was serving my clients as well as I could. I wanted to give them my best.

## Then I took on taxes
After a while, I took on tax planning. If you do not plan for taxes, you are not doing your best for your clients. But taxes are hard. There are so many rules. The states make it harder. Each state has its own odd rules, and they change every year. I could not keep them all in my head.

## A tool that gets it right every time
So I wanted a tool that knows the rules. It should use them the same way, every time. Run each client through it, and you know their taxes are right. Everything is accounted for. To me, that was the best way to serve my clients.

## I did it all myself
In my own firm, I did it all. I picked the software. I did the compliance. I sat through the audits. I learned each pain by living it.

## I was not the only one
I had friends who ran firms in similar fields. They had the same problems. So it was not just me. I built the platform I wanted for myself, and for them too. It takes the work I did by hand off my desk.

If any of this sounds like you, you are not alone.
